Cut Taxes and Save on Energy Bills with Federal Tax Credits
Did you know your air conditioner and heater account for more than half of your energy use? Upgrading to a more efficient system may actually save you money in the long run.
A number of tax credits for residential energy efficiency have been renewed. The tax credits are available for purchases made in 2017, as well as retroactive to purchases made in 2016.
For homeowners purchasing qualified central air conditioning, furnaces, or heat pumps for their primary residence, a federal tax credit may be available for you. The tax credit equals 10% of the cost of the equipment up to $500, or a specific amount from $50-$300…it all depends on your purchase.
You have a few options if you are unsure about your tax credit:
- Call Brown at (205) 871-8111. We are happy to help guide you through the process.
- Check out the Energy Star’s website
- Contact your tax accountant. They can help you complete the tax forms to claim the tax credit.
